Digital Fluency Intensive - Session 2: Workflow
Today's session has helped me to become more confident with using Google Meet, Gmail and Google Calendar, and has also introduced me to Google Keep.
I have used Google Meet frequently during the lockdown, so I was already relatively confident with using it (creating a Google Meet, using grid view, teaching etiquette etc), however, I have now learned about the close captions function, and have practised recording a Google Meet (see video), and sharing a Chrome tab while presenting.
I have adjusted themes and settings on my Gmail and Google Calendar so that they are easier to use, and have learned new shortcuts to use in Google Calendar (such as pressing the letter 'd' to show the day, 'w' to show the week, and 'm' to show the month).
What I will take away from this session to teach my students, is how to insert a video into a blog post using the embed function.

Kia ora Emelia,
ReplyDeleteYou have got lots out of the day's 'Workflow' session. With your Drive, Gmail and Calendar now tamed, you will be flying through your work now.
Embedding videos from Drive means that you get a good quality video in the blog post.
When looking at Hannah's blog post wasn't it great to see all the commenting and replying making those threaded conversations and adding to her learning. Is this something you do with your learners?

Hey Emelia,
ReplyDeleteYour takeaways are great. It's go awesome to be able to have a session that focuses on your own workflow - I think we only really use a quarter of what gmail, drive and calendars can give you! I know I get in the habit of using them in a way that works for me and forget a whole heap of what it can do!
Embedding a video into a blog is a super handy thing to be able to do! I am sure your learners will appreciate being able to do this and share longer videos!
See you soon!
